John Alexander founded Global Squad in 2011. As a former player from the International School of Beijing, Coach Alexander used his experience of living overseas to create a program that caters specifically to the needs of student-athletes who want to reach their full potential on and off the court.
As the head coach of the 17U Under Armour team (UAA), John leverages his extensive experience to mold future basketball stars. His coaching journey is expansive and diverse, spanning camps in over 30 countries and working with players ranging from elementary-aged to seasoned professionals. Under his guidance, an impressive roster of over 430 players have reached the college level, with 65+ advancing to play at the professional level.
John’s own playing career is decorated with notable achievements. At Washington College (2001-2005), he not only was a 3-year starter but also demonstrated leadership qualities that earned him the position of team captain. His defensive prowess at Washington College was recognized with three “Defensive Player of the Year” awards.
In high school, at the International School of Beijing (1997-2001), John scored nearly 2000 points. He was named the Nike League MVP and was instrumental in clinching the APAC Championship in 1998-99.
John graduated from Washington College with a B.A. in Business Management.
