PLAYER SAFETY

Global Squad keeps the safety of every participant as the highest priority. Our staff undergo extensive background checks as part of the vetting process.

All of our coaches and staff are required to complete the following before working at Global Squad:

• Fingerprint Identification

• Arrest and Conviction Report

• Child Abuse History Clearance

• Criminal Record Background Check

Our student-athletes are held to a high standard to maintain a safe and secure environment. The rules for camp will be explained and made clear throughout the duration. Campers are required to sign a code of conduct upon arrival to ensure they understand the rules fully.

Injury/Sickness Protocol: There is a Global Squad staff member at each of our locations who is highly trained to assist with non-serious injury or medical situations. Emergency care is readily available at the local hospital. Any player requiring a doctor visit for injury or sickness cannot continue playing until cleared by a medical professional. 

Communication: There are chaperons on duty at all times supervising the student-athletes. There are at least two staff members living in every dorm building that the athletes occupy. Contact information for these staff members can be found on the staff profile page. 

Insurance: Each player must have health insurance policy to cover normal medical issues. Extended details are available upon request.

Vehicles: Students are not permitted to enter or leave campus in any motor vehicle other than their designated team bus.

The Global Squad coaching staff combines for 150+ years of playing experience and 300+ years of coaching experience.

MIKE DURILLA

Mike Durilla

HEAD COACH

Mike Durilla is returning to Global Squad for his eighth year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Gold Squad. From Howell, New Jersey, Coach Durilla attended Washington College (MD), graduating in 2009 with a B.A. in History, followed by earning his M.A. in History from the same university in 2013.

After graduating, Coach Durilla began coaching as the Donovan Catholic Varsity Assistant Coach. After his first year, he also took on the position of Freshmen Head Coach. In 2018, he was hired as the Washington College Assistant Coach, a position he holds today.

Tim Respass

Tim Respass is returning for his third year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Coach Respass attended Bucks County Community College for two years and then transferred to Penn State University. Graduating with an A.A. in Sports Management and a B.A. in Business Management, Coach Respass was also named BCCC Athlete of the Year and awarded the NAC Sportsmanship Award twice.

His coaching career began with an assistant coaching position for the men’s basketball team at Bucks County Community College. Coach Respass then worked as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Penn State Abington, an Individual Skill Development Trainer at CoachUp, and the Head Basketball Coach of USBA China’s“ Chongqing.

Today he is the Technical Director of USBA China, overseeing roughly 30 club programs.

ZACK SHAW

Zack Shaw is entering his third year for Global Squad, serving as a Head Coach for the Red Squad. From Bethesda, Maryland, Coach Shaw was one of the players on Global Squad’s first-ever Summer Academy team. His hard work and dedication earned him a roster spot at Washington College (MD).

In 2018, he graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration. A standout high school athlete in Beijing, Coach Shaw returned to China after graduation to take on the role of Assistant Coach for the Shanghai Select.

CJ Dunston is returning to Global Squad for his fourth year, serving as a Head Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Elkton, Maryland, Coach Dunston graduated from Lancaster Bible College in 2016 with a B.A. in Sports Management.

While in college, Coach Dunston was a 2-time Conference Player of the Year, which earned him professional playing interest. In 2016 he began his professional career in the Spanish EBA League and two years later he moved to Sweden to play for their 1st Division.

HERBIE BROWN

Herbie Brown is returning for his fourth year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Coach Brown graduated from Lancaster Bible College in 2018 with a B.A. in sports management.

While in college, Coach Brown was a 2-Time NEAC 1st Team All-Conference selection, 1,000-point scorer, and won the NEAC Championship twice.

BRANTLEY OSBORNE

Brantley Osborne is returning for his second year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Sunbury, Pennsylvania, Coach Osborne graduated from Shepherd University in 2014 with a B.A. in Sociology and Minor in Athletic Coaching. Walking on at Shepherd, Coach Osborne’s hard work and dedication earned him DII All-Region honors, 3-time All-Conference honors, and numerous school records. He is the current statistical leader at Shepherd in 3-pointers made for a career, 3-pointers made in a season, and 3-pointers made in a game.

During the 2010-2011 season, he led the nation in 3-point percentage. Coach Osborne went on to become a FIBA Pro, leading his team, CB Naron, in Spain, his rookie season. The following year he started every game for Xuven Cambados, setting the record for most consecutive wins in LEB Plata history.

Since his retirement from basketball, he has accepted a role as the men’s basketball assistant coach at Saint James School in Hagerstown, Maryland with Coach Breslin.

BLAKE KINGSLEY JR

Blake Kingsley Jr. is returning to Global Squad for his second year, serving as a Head Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Portland, Oregon, Coach Kingsley attended the University of Oregon, graduating in 2016 with a B.S. in Applied Economics. Founding and coaching the University of Oregon Club Basketball team, working as an Assistant Video Coordinator for the Washington Mystics/Wizards, and coaching 17 D-I athletes are just a few of the occupations Coach Kingsley held while in college.

His coaching career began as a student manager for the Oregon Women’s Basketball Team under Coach Paul Westhead and Kelly Graves.

Currently, Coach Kingsley is the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Scotland Campus Sports High School.

BILL LIVEZEY

Bill Livezey is returning for his second year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Sherman, Maine, Coach Livezey earned his B.A. from Lancaster Bible College in 2018 after transferring from North Greenville University. He went on to receive his M.B.A. in Organization Leadership from Cairn University in 2020.

During his college career, Coach Livezey appeared in four conference championships, winning three of them and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.

To date, Coach Livezey has coached at Katahdin High School, Dayspring Christian Academy, and Cairn University.

Adam Todd-Thomas is returning for his second year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Brisbane, Australia, Coach Todd-Thomas graduated Cum Laude from Southwestern Christian University in 2018. He then went on to receive his M.B.A. from Florida National University in 2019, also graduating Cum Laude.

While in college, Coach Todd-Thomas appeared in two NAIA National Championships, won three conference tournaments, was part of the two best teams in school history and shot 65% from 3-point range his senior year. Currently, Coach Todd-Thomas is the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Florida National University.

NATE ESKINAZI

Nate Eskinazi is returning for his second year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Red Squad. From Canton, Massachusetts, Coach Eskinazi earned his B.A. from the University of Rhode Island in 2013 and is pursuing his M.B.A. from Georgian Court University. Coach Eskinazi’s coaching career began in 2013 as the Assistant Boys Varsity Coach and Head JV Coach at Hope High School in Providence, Rhode Island.

In 2015, he accepted a position as the Head Boys Coach at Horsholm Basketball Club in Denmark. The following year, Coach Eskinazi became the interim Head Basketball Coach at SISU Basketball Club Basketligaen. He returned to the United States in 2017 to coach as the Men’s Assistant at Lake Region State College Devils Lake in North Dakota.

One year later, Coach Eskinazi accepted a position as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Georgian Court University in New Jersey, a position that he holds today.

PAUL SIPES

Paul Sipes is entering his first year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Naha, Okinawa, Japan, Coach Sipes earned his B.A. from the University of Maryland in 1990 and M.A. from Wesleyan University in 2005.

He has been the recipient of a number of coaching awards including the Maryland Women’s Basketball Association Coach of the Year in 2001, Virginia Athletic Director of the Year in 2012, Virginia Independent School Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 2013, and 9-time Conference Coach of the Year.

During his decorated coaching career, Coach Sipes has also amassed over 400 wins.

ERIC EPSTEIN

Eric Epstein is entering his first year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Newark, Delaware, Coach Epstein graduated from the University of Delaware in 2015 with a B.A. in Finance and Sport Management. In 2018, he received his M.B.A. from Goldey-Beacom College with a concentration in marketing management.

Coach Epstein is currently the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Goldey-Beacom, a position he has held since 2016.

KEITH BUXTON

Keith Buxton is entering his first year as a Global Squad Head Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Bed-Stuy Brooklyn, New York, Coach Buxton graduated from High Point University in 2012 with a B.S. in Sports Administration and Magna Cum Laude from Old Dominion University in 2019 with an M.S. in Special Education and Administration.

Coach Buxton’s basketball resume consists of time as the High Point University Student Manager, ECU Graduate Assistant/Assistant Video Coordinator, and Mercersburg Academy Assistant Coach.

He is currently seeking Division III and Junior College Coaching interest.

Emmanuel Matthews is returning for his fifth year at Global Squad, serving as an Assistant Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Chester, Pennsylvania, Coach Matthews will graduate from Washington College in 2020 with a B.A. in Music Performance.

His first three years at Washington College, Coach Matthews was the Student Assistant Coach for the Men’s Basketball Team.

Graham McFall is returning to Global Squad for his fourth year, serving as a Head Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Brisbane, Australia, Coach McFall attended the University of Wisconsin at Superior, graduating in 2018 with a B.A. in Sports Management and M.A. in Higher Education.

Coach McFall’s coaching career consists of time with IUPUI Men’s Basketball, Caboolture Suns SBL Australia, Indiana University Kokomo, Aurora University Men’s Basketball, and currently, Lincoln University Missouri Women’s Basketball.

Yujin Yamamoto is returning to Global Squad for his third year as an Assistant Coach for the Gold Squad. From Osaka, Japan, Coach Yamamoto graduated from the University of Toronto in 2019 with a double major in Chemistry and Economics.

During his college career, he spent a semester playing for the University of Nottingham where he led the men’s basketball team to a Conference Championship, earning him preseason looks from professional teams in Lithuania.

Connor Zinaich is returning to Global Squad for his fourth year as a Global Squad Assistant Coach with the Gold Squad. Originally from Boonsboro, Maryland, Coach Zinaich will graduate from Nova Southeastern in 2020.

His extensive collegiate basketball awards consist of Freshmen of the Year, First Team All-Freshmen Team, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Tournament Team (Sunshine State Conference), 2-time D-II National Player of the Week, 3-time Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week, Elite 8 Participant, Regional Champion, and Regular Season Champion.

PAUL LEWIS

Paul Lewis is returning for his second year at Global Squad as an Assistant Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Beijing, China, Coach Lewis currently attends Brigham Young University and will graduate in 2020 with a B.S. in Physics.

A Global Squad Alumnus, Coach Lewis attended the International School of Beijing where he won an APAC Basketball Championship his senior year.

Alex Rogat is returning for his second year as a Global Squad Assistant Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Cologne, Germany, Coach Rogat will graduate from Chapman University in 2022 with a B.A. in Business Administration.

In high school, Coach Rogat was a 4-time Austrian National Champion, U15 & U17 German National Team Nominee, and 2-time ISST First-Team nomination.

Avery White is entering his second year as a Global Squad Assistant Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Woodbridge, Virginia, Coach White currently attends Shenandoah University and is expected to graduate in 2021 with a B.A. in Sports Management.

Coach White’s playing career consists of one State Championship in high school and an ODAC Sportsmanship award while in college.

De Andre’ Metcalf is entering his second year as a Global Squad Assistant Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Wurzburg, Germany, Coach Metcalf currently attends Texas Southern University and is expected to graduate in 2022.

In high school, Coach Metcalf was a 2-time MVP at Seoul American High School, First Team All-League, and All-East Asia. He was also a member of the Seoul American honor roll.

Luke Bancroft is entering his fourth year with Global Squad, operating as an Assistant Coach for the Gold Squad. From Dubai, UAE, Coach Bancroft currently attends American University and is expected to graduate in 2022 with a B.I.G.S. in International Relations and Arabic Language.

In high school, Coach Bancroft was a 3-year player for the American School in Dubai Varsity Men’s Basketball Team.

JOHN-ANTHONY DI TULLIO

JA Di Tullio is entering his first year as a Global Squad Assistant Coach for the Red Squad. From Gmunden, Austria, Coach Di Tullio will graduate from Trinity University (TX) in 2022 with a B.A. in Finance.

In high school, Coach Di Tullio was an ISST 3-time All-Star, awarded the Mercersburg’ John’ Award, and a member of the honor roll.

Steven Eng is entering his first year as a Global Squad Assistant Coach for the Gold Squad. Originally from Elon, North Carolina, Coach Eng plans to graduate from the University of Valley Forge in 2022 with a B.A. in Sports Management.

This past year he received Valley Forge Patriots All-Academic Team honors. In high school, Coach Eng was a NACA D-II National Champion, a Conference Tournament MVP, and was awarded All-Conference honors.

Jordan Lippman is entering his first year as a Global Squad Assistant Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Austin, Texas, Coach Lippman will graduate from Trinity University in 2022 with a B.A. in Communications.

In high school, Coach Lippman was ranked in the Top 100 high school players in Texas and the Round Rock High School Team MVP.

Mike Collins is entering his first year as a Global Squad Assistant Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, Coach Collins received his B.A. from Mount St. Mary’s in 2018 and is currently pursuing his M.B.A. at Shepherd University.

His athletic career consists of three years as a D-I baseball player at The Mount and one year at Shepherd University. Coach Collins received the President Scholarship and the Deans Scholarship at Mount St. Mary’s for his outstanding academic achievements in high school.

CHRIS GORRES

Chris Gorres is the CEO of ONYX Elite and entering his sixth year as a Global Squad coach, serving as the Athletic Performance Director. Originally from Washington, DC, Coach Gorres was recruited to play football for Cornell University.

After graduating in 2004 with a B.S.A. in Electrical Engineering, he decided to pursue his love for physical training and athletic performance. Now a decorated coach and trainer, Coach Gorres is an NFL Strength and Conditioning Coach, NBA Performance Trainer, Vertimax Master Trainer, USWNT Return to Play Specialist, International Presenter, and Youth Trainer at all levels and sports.

His extensive resume and vast background in athletic performance allow Global Squad athletes to understand what it takes to reach and remain in peak physical condition.

MARK CARON

Mark Caron is returning to Global Squad for his fourth year as the Head Athletic Trainer/Performance Coach for the Red Squad. Originally from Manila, Philippines, Coach Caron graduated Cum Laude from the University of the Philippines Diliman with a Bachelor of Sports Science in 2009 and Suma Cum Laude from the same university with an M.S. in Human Movement Science in 2014.

Coach Caron has an extensive training background, working as the Program Director for PhenomElite Training Academy. He has spoken as a Senior Lecturer at the University of the Philippines Diliman College of Human Kinetics.

Worked as an Athletic Performance Coach for Creamline Coolsmashers Volleyball Team, the Philippine Men’s National Football Team Azkals, and Loyola Meralco Football Club. Coach Caron has also worked as Performance Coach for ASEAN Top Baller, a Strength and Conditioning Coach for National University Men’s Basketball Team, Performance Training Consultant for the Center for Musculoskeletal Science Asia, and a Performance Consultant/Ambassador for SKLZ. His MS, CSCS, and XPS provide Global Squad athletes with access to elite athletic performance training.

ZACHARY TABRANI

Zach Tabrani is entering his second year with Global Squad, serving as the Athletic Performance Assistant. Originally from Manila, Philippines, Mr. Tabrani graduated from Hampden Sydney College in 2017 with a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Exercise Science. Mr. Tabrani is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist currently pursuing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Stefan Louis is entering his first year at Global Squad, serving as the Athletic Trainer for the Gold Squad. Originally from Baldwin, New York, Mr. Louis graduated from Marymount University in 2019 with a B.S. in Pre-Physical Therapy. While in college, he was the Manager for the Marymount University Men’s Basketball team for three years.

ALLYSON LEGG

Ally Legg or “The Camp Mom” returns to Global Squad for her tenth year, assisting with resident life and administrative support for the Red Squad. From Mount Airy, Maryland, Ms. Ally attended Port Jefferson High School, graduating in 1980.

As a loving mother of four and grandmother of five, Ms. Ally’s ability to provide the proper guidance and care for Global Squad athletes off the court is unparalleled. A large part of the family-like atmosphere that Global Squad takes pride in delivering to our athletes year after year comes from Ms. Ally’s ability to make our players feel at home while they attend our Summer Academy.

BRAD JOHANSON

Brad Johnason is returning to Global Squad for his fourth year as Video, Photo, and Social Media Director. Formerly a Global Squad player, Coach Johanson attended the International School of Beijing and was able to get recruited to play basketball for Ithaca College. Graduating in 2016 with a B.A. in Television and Radio, Coach Johanson was also a member of the Ithaca College Leadership Academy and the 2014-2015 National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court.

In addition to his success in the classroom, Coach Johanson was also a standout athlete, making an NCAA DIII Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2013 and winning the Empire 8 Conference in the same year. Overseeing the Global Squad Summer Academy social media updates as well as collecting game footage and photos make Coach Johanson an extremely valuable member of our Global Squad family.

Trent Lyons is entering his third year at Global Squad, serving as the Social Media Manager for the Gold Squad. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Mr. Lyons will graduate from the University of Toledo in 2020 with a B.C. in Public Relations and minor in Political Science.

Lizzy Leinzinger is entering her first year at Global Squad, serving as the Social Media Manager for the Red Squad. Originally from Venlo, Netherlands, Ms. Leinzinger will graduate from University of Applied Sciences in 2021 with a B.A. in Sport and Management.

John Alexander

FOUNDER & CEO

John Alexander founded Global Squad in 2011. As a former player from the International School of Beijing, Coach Alexander used his experience of living overseas to create a program that caters specifically to the needs of student-athletes who want to reach their full potential on and off the court.

As the head coach of the 17U Under Armour team (UAA), John leverages his extensive experience to mold future basketball stars. His coaching journey is expansive and diverse, spanning camps in over 30 countries and working with players ranging from elementary-aged to seasoned professionals. Under his guidance, an impressive roster of over 430 players have reached the college level, with 65+ advancing to play at the professional level.

John’s own playing career is decorated with notable achievements. At Washington College (2001-2005), he not only was a 3-year starter but also demonstrated leadership qualities that earned him the position of team captain. His defensive prowess at Washington College was recognized with three “Defensive Player of the Year” awards.

In high school, at the International School of Beijing (1997-2001), John scored nearly 2000 points. He was named the Nike League MVP and was instrumental in clinching the APAC Championship in 1998-99.

John graduated from Washington College with a B.A. in Business Management.

In John Alexander, the basketball world sees a visionary leader, a dedicated coach, and a global citizen, whose legacy continues to inspire and shape the future of international basketball.

Kevin Breslin’s journey in the world of basketball is a combination of talent and tireless commitment. As the Coaching Program Director for Global Squad, Kevin’s primary role involves training Global Squad coaches and ensuring that the quality of coaching meets the organization’s high standards.

Kevin served as an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins University from 2016 to 2018, fostering budding talents and honing their skills. He moved internationally to mentor players at Fastbreak Basketball Club in Singapore during 2018-19. His coaching journey brought him back home as the head coach at Saint James School.

As a player, Kevin’s on-court accomplishments were nothing short of impressive. He played professionally with the Washington Generals, competing in 15 countries. While at Washington College, from 2012 to 2016, were laden with accolades. As the team MVP, a 3-time All-Centennial Conference honoree, and the 2012 All-Mid-Atlantic Region Selection, Kevin left an indelible mark by finishing as the 5th all-time leading scorer in the school’s history.

Kevin played high school basketball Saint Maria Goretti in Hagerstown, Maryland. He was named 2008 Washington County Player of the Year and finished his career with 1388 points and was named twice to the All Baltimore Catholic League.

Off the court, Kevin graduated with a double major in English and Philosophy from Washington College. He earned the prestigious Thomas Reeder Spedden Medal in 2012 for athletic achievement combined with academic standing. Kevin also earned an M.S. in English from Washington College.

Christian Matthews

MEN'S SUMMER ACADEMY DIRECTOR

2012 - Present

Christian Matthews is a beacon of basketball coaching and talent development, whose success spans both nationally and internationally. Serving as the Assistant Coach at Swarthmore College and the Summer Academy Director for Global Squad, Christian’s multifaceted expertise has been instrumental in sculpting the future of countless young athletes.

As the assistant coach for Swarthmore, Christian helped the team reach two NCAA Final Four appearances.

From 2016 to 2020, Christian undertook the pivotal role of program director and coach for Shanghai Select, one of China’s premier youth basketball clubs. His leadership and guidance have been central to elevating Shanghai Select to be recognized as a powerhouse in youth basketball within China.

Beyond his coaching responsibilities, Christian is renowned for his exceptional training skills. He has been a key figure in the development of young talent in the Global Squad, guiding them from potential to polished players, ready to take on global basketball challenges.

From Chester, PA, Christian’s own journey in basketball started on the courts before transitioning to the sidelines. He played at Washington College where he earned a B.A. in Business Management.

Abby Wilson

Abby Wilson embodies the spirit of international sports outreach, seamlessly integrating her passion and professionalism into her role as the International Program Director. With a footprint spanning across six continents, Abby has successfully orchestrated basketball and volleyball camps in over 30 countries, a testament to her unparalleled dedication and global reach.

Beyond setting up world-renowned sports camps, Abby also spearheads the Summer Academy as its director, ensuring that participants receive a top-notch experiences. Abby’s meticulous nature, detail-oriented approach, and her unwavering commitment to the Global Squad Core Values have solidified her reputation in the world of international sports programs.

Whether you’re a budding athlete hoping to refine your skills or a country seeking to introduce sports camps, Abby Wilson’s name stands as a symbol of excellence, commitment, and global unity through sports.

Originally from Front Royal, Virginia, Ms. Wilson attended Virginia Tech where she made the Deans list 6 semesters and graduated Suma Cum Laude in 2018 with an Honors Global Scholar Diploma and B.A. in Sociology.

Riley Mew is returning to Global Squad for her second year as an Assistant Coach for the Red Squad. From Ventura, California, Coach Mew graduated from Fresno Pacific University in 2019 with a B.A. in Interpersonal Communication.
